I love mine. I received it as a gift several years ago and did not know how to clean it. I looked online and found these hints: Here are some tips for cleaning a silver menorah:
Remove wax: You can try these methods for removing wax from a silver menorah:
Freeze: Harden the wax by freezing it, then carefully scrape it off with a plastic spatula. (I used a plastic pot scraper.)
Pour boiling water: Pour boiling water over the menorah in the sink.
Use a hair dryer: Gently melt the wax with a hair dryer, then wipe it off with a soft cloth. Be careful not to get too close to the menorah, as the heat can burn some materials.
Clean with silver polish: Use a soft sponge and silver polish to clean the menorah.
Wash with dish soap: Wash the menorah with dish soap and hot water.
Rinse and dry: Rinse the menorah with hot water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Store: Store the menorah in a cool, dry place in a tightly closed plastic bag with a piece of chalk to absorb moisture and sulfur.
Soak in ammonia: Soak the silver in a bowl of 1/2 cup of clear ammonia and 1 cup of warm water for 10 minutes. Gently dry the silver after removing it from the solution. I hope you find some of these hints helpful.
this is the third one I have bought, Two out of three as gifts!!!
As a family, we’ve been enjoying using our Noah’s Ark themed menorah for 25 years. I’ve been looking for the perfect “adult” piece and I found it online at Brighton. This is so pretty that I’m displaying it all year long.
Beautiful menorah added to my menorah collection, however no one knows HOW it is to be cleaned after using it for Chanukah.
Can it withstand heat? I use a hair dryer to remove candle wax to my other menorahs but I called a Brighton and they don’t know.
