How did you become a designer?
As a child I was always encouraged to create, paint, color, build, and simply, “make a beautiful mess” to explore my interests. My constant desire to create led me to be a designer.
What's your background?
I earned a fine arts degree at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada, and a visual communications degree at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I began my career as a fine artist, selling work and participating in gallery shows. Then I became a greeting card designer.
How did you come to Brighton?
It all started with a gift from my husband — he gave me a set of Brighton jewelry. I was intrigued by their creative packaging because I designed greeting cards. My curiosity led me to learn more about the company. They were looking for a new designer, and the job description sounded perfect for me!
Guilty pleasure?
Buying myself flowers.
What's on your desk?
I have photos of my kids, shells, starfish, a sketchbook, colored pencils, pens, a nautical book, flowers, and a wooden sculpted bowl.
