Tom Clancy - Brighton Designer
Originally from Manhattan, Tom now lives in the seaside town of Laguna Beach, but many of his designs have decidedly urban feel. His much-loved Fashionista Collection is inspired by glamorous jetsetters who travel the globe, from the streets of Paris to the runways of Milan.
Where do you live?
Laguna Beach, CA, which has great beaches, scenic coves, and a wonderful art community.
How did you become a designer?
I’ve been an artist since I can remember. I was sewing by hand since age 5. I always had a passion for history, art and a love for the history of fashion.
Who inspired you?
My family. Our home was filled with music and contemporary art. My mother was beautiful and obsessed with fashion. My grandmother was a free spirit who loved me and supported my talent. My wife, Debra, pushed me and believed in me. My daughter, Veronica, is my muse and a mini me.
Does your heritage influence your designs?
Of course! I am first generation American – my family comes from England and Ireland, so the old world and traditions run through my veins and into my art.

How do you create your artwork?
I use a quick hand-sketch technique.
