Maricela Palacios - Brighton Designer
An international traveler, Maricela’s designs often are influenced by the art and architecture she has seen on her trips, as well as her everyday life. Her Interlok Collection, in Brighton’s signature silver, was inspired by the timeless beauty of a Celtic knot.
Who inspired you?
My parents exposed me to art at an early age, instilled in me to have passion for what I do and to work hard and never lose respect or compassion towards others. Also that faith and spirituality are an essential in life.
What's your background?
After completing a degree in graphic design and fashion merchandising from Woodbury University in Burbank, CA, I went on to study painting for a year in Barcelona, Spain.
Last great find?
My husband.
Trends you’re loving?
I’m excited that nailhead designs are resurfacing and still trending. I also love global influences and the mix of textures and prints.
Where do you find inspiration?
I am inspired by what I see around me on any given day. I take pictures wherever I go, so that serves as my visual diary. I carry a small notebook, so when I come across something I can jot it down or do a rough little sketch.
How do you approach designing?
I take risks and think outside the box. I also find that the most successful designs are the ones that I would wear myself.
